UMUR
"Bloodred Hatred" is the second full-length studio album by Danish death/thrash metal act Hatesphere. The album was released through Scarlet Records in August 2002. It´s the successor the eponymously titled debut album from 2001. There´s been one linup change since the predecessor as drummer Jesper Moesgaard has been replaced by Morten Toft Hansen.

Stylistically the material on "Bloodred Hatred" continue the combination of melodic Swedish (Gothenburg influenced) death metal and brutal thrash metal which was also featured on the debut album. Artists like At the Gates and In Flames come to mind as well as The Haunted. Hatesphere are a well playing unit, and lead vocalist Jacob Bredahl has a strong voice and a relatively varied raw/shouting delivery. Sometimes he sounds a little like Tomas Lindberg (At the Gates), but he can also sing more raw and in a lower range.

"Bloodred Hatred" is a highly energetic release featuring a healthy dose of aggression and the punchy and raw nature of the performances are some of the greatest assets of the album. While the material on the album are well written and effectful, Hatesphere aren´t the most unique sounding act on the scene and "Bloodred Hatred" does nothing to change that. It´s still a good quality release though and fans of the genre will probably find lots to enjoy here. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
