I have no idea that they have been around for more than 10 years until recently, but what makes this band unique is that they're shooting for a risky move by putting up a female singer, Daniela Karrer, to replace the long-time singer, Andi Bruer. It works fine actually, Daniela can shout harshly like a man, very demonic but not as harsh as the growly Angela Gossow. 'Synchronicity' is definitely an interesting release but somehow didn't live up the good after 4-5 spins, and the reason is because it ended up sounded too samey with one another.
The first half makes up a good decent thrash outfit. 'Fallen From Grace' and 'Hell Remains' blasted high as a good opener, the latter track has some great chugging riffs. 'In Silence' brutalized the rhythm more, the solo is nice, a better track for sure, but 'Intensify My Fear' dropped a bit, until the momentum was lost with the title track. It's way too long, okay it gives room for the instrumental part, but it's a less-acrobatic track and totally passable all the time.
'State of The Art' steals my attention, and this one's really awesome. I love this one together with 'Sanctuary', a unique slow-tempo approach but still sounds very heavy, with a slight Egyptian flair in it and the chorus is tense. 'Falling Off The Edge of The World' is quite similar with 'In Silence' in terms of high speed driving rhythm, and these three are the pinnacle of this whole album. Now, I can see the relation to the Bay Area and classic German thrash, but somehow the recent metalcore sound also has an indisputable important contribution to Headshot.
A nice addition to the thrash library, but don't expect too much. Fire up and just enjoy!
