Genre: traditional heavy metal
Heavy Cross main man Satanic Tyrant Werwolf is involved in a plethora of projects, most of which are black metal oriented. In Heavy Cross, Werwolf pursues another heavy metal interest - namely, NWOBHM, and the two tracks on this 7'' EP sound almost like they were released in 1981.
The first track 'Street Wolf' builds on a pumping guitar riff combined with a Maiden-esque melodic lead guitar (only Heavy Cross do not make use of twin leads) and a catchy chorus. The bridge is energetic and features a sweaty heard-rocking guitar solo as well as a dynamic break-down-and-build-up section. While, 'Street Wolf' has a 'Prowler'-like drive, 'Red Light Woman' is based around more of a boogie metal feel with vocals that remind me a bit of Mick Jagger of all people.
The two tracks are decidedly retro as is the production, but if you like old school traditional heavy metal, then this two-track EP is definitely worth a listen - it has the guitar solos, the riffage and the attitude.
