HORDE was one of the first Christian artists to react to the Satanic black metal of the time and the first to be called unblack metal. This sole album was released in 1994 on Nuclear Blast Records and immediately all involved began to get death threats because of the strong Christian and anti-Satanic lyrics that were obviously against the grain of the the early 90s black metal scene. HORDE was basically the solo project of Jayson Sherlock who went under the name Anonymous

As far as i'm concerned I like black metal for the music alone mostly and I couldn't care less if the lyrics are about Satan, Jesus or the Easter bunny. As long as the music is interesting then I will listen and this music is actually really good as it employs the best features of old school black metal in the vain of Darkthrone and other early second wavers. All the features that make great black metal are here including highly distorted guitar fury with blastbeat drumming and tortured agonized vocals.

With songs like “Crush The Bloodied Horns Of The Goat” and “Weak, Feeble, Dying Antichrist,” it does seem like a parady in that the positive and uplifting lyrical content is totally incongruous with the bleak wall of sound presented, nevertheless, I actually find this a good listen with some seriously good musical talent here.
