Burn Me Wicked is the 7th full-length studio album by Danish death metal act Illdisposed. The album was released in April 2006 by Roadrunner Records. Burn Me Wicked sold out the 30.000 copies that were initially pressed and is one of the best-selling albums yet by Illdisposed. Burn Me Wicked has since been re-issued by Massacre Records. There´s been a lineup change since 1-800 Vindication (2004) as guitarist and founding member Lasse Bak left Illdisposed to concentrate his efforts on Slow Death Factory. Exmortem guitarist Martin Thim joined the band for live activities and ended up being part of the recording lineup on Burn Me Wicked. Guitarist Jakob "Batten" Hansen is credited for writing all music on the album while vocalist Bo Summer wrote the lyrics.
The music on the album pretty much continues the melodic yet groovy death metal style that was initiated on the predeceeding album 1-800 Vindication. There are not as many keyboards and clean vocals on Burn Me Wicked as there are on 1-800 Vindication but the music is still pretty polished death metal. The quality is high throughout and if you enjoy melodic death metal with groove you´re the target group here. The closing Illdispunk'd, which is a kind of fun punk´n´death track, of course stands out from the generally more serious tracks on the album. Bo Summer again performs both deep growling vocals and higher pitched raspy ditto. The clean vocals on the album are performed by former Mercenary vocalist Mikkel Sandager.
The production on the album is not as succesful as the production on the predecessor but judged on it´s own merits, the sound is pretty good for this kind of music.
Burn Me Wicked is not a revelation IMO, but it´s a decent above average melodic death metal album and a 3 star rating is deserved ( sometimes the album is close to a 3.5 star rating). I´d purchase 1-800 Vindication before Burn Me Wicked though.
