Genre: Melodic death metal
One thing's for sure: Illdisposed have longevity. They are one of the few First Wave of Danish Death Metal bands who are still around. Their secret is that they're constantly developing and reinventing themselves, and they have an ability to follow the tides and tendencies of the metal genre without losing originality.
The three main elements on this album are melody, groove and electronic sounds. Most tracks are in a middle pace (with tracks like "Step into my Winter", "Sunday Black" and Alone" being faster tracks) and draw on a combination of groovy, rocking riffage and melodic keyboard effects and other electronic stuff (this album actually kind of reminds me of Anime Fire who use the same sort of combinations).
I think that the groovy riffs and the more uptempo melodeath tracks work well, but this album strikes me as being very polished and clean, and the electronic effects fill too much and I would have liked to hear some more old school and brutal elements on this album, too.
But such is the world of Illdisposed - constant development, and sometimes you just don't get what you want. That being said, I think that this album will be a huge hit among fans of melodeath and melodic metalcore, because it's got all the elements that characterizes these genres.
