"Dismal Orations"? Come now, Inquisition, you're selling yourselves short - this album isn't dismal, it's actually quite good! Especially when Dagon is delivering some of the most curious and gutteral black metal vocals since Attila's performance on Mayhem's Ordo Ad Chao, you've got nothing to be ashamed of here. Sure, this is fairly straight ahead black metal in the Norwegian-inspired vein which doesn't really reinvent the wheel or get very experimental, but sometimes you just want something solid and reliable, and Dagon and Incubus deliver both of those things on this album. Black metal fans in general will enjoy it but it probably won't win over many converts from outside the genre's existing audience.
Those who prefer to avoid NSBM releases if possible should note that the album bears the artwork of "Antichrist" Kramer, a big supporter of the NSBM scene, and came out on No Colours (who aren't an official NSBM label but equally aren't very picky about who they sign); since this came out, Dagon's 2009 conviction for child sex abuse images just added ot the baggage the band are carried around. Star rating is based on music only, I leave it to you to decide whether or not you want to pay money for this; personally, I think it is competently done but nothing black metal fans won't have heard others doing better.
