Straight-jacket mosh...
Genre: crossover thrash
Enter the true Austrian death machine, the crossover thrashing onslaught that is Insanity Alert.
This EP, which was released on Bandcamp last year is everything an old school crossover release should be: aggressive, fast, and brief. Thus, most of the songs are around a minute and a half in length and feature simple in-yer-face riffs, performed at breakneck speed. Combining chucking thrash riffage with energetic hardcore riffs, Insanity Alert have struck the golden balance between the two genres. The vocals are angry and aggressive and, as per the genre, accompanied by riot backing vocals.
All the songs are pretty good, some more punky, some more thrashy, and all a bit of both. My personal favorite, however, is the more thrashy 'Straight-Jacket Mosh' and the Maiden-parody 'Run to the Pit'. In the vein of D.R.I., S.O.D., M.O.D. and other similar acts, Insanity infuse a good dose of humor into their music and lyrics, which is always refreshing.
Great moshing and thrashing fun, Insanity Alert's "First Diagnosis" is recommended to fans of crossover thrash, who are on the look-out for some lighthearted hardcore headbanging good times.
