Sacrament is Lamb Of God's fourth full length studio album and perhaps their best to date. The musicianship is of the highest standard; head and shoulders above many of their peers, their influences and their own earlier albums.

The album is chocked full of career highlights from the brooding opener `Walk with Me in Hell,' or the anthemic chant along `Blacken The Cursed Sun,' to furiously catchy single `Redneck,' nothing is ever short of amazing, the band have never sounded so good. The album is such a step up its really difficult to stop listening to it over and over again when you first hear it.

Everything about this album just clicks, a trend started with 2004's Ashes of the Wake. When its fast and heavy, its fast and heavy in just the right way. When its dark and brooding, its dark and brooding in just the right way and so on. Even the production is amazing, while the Producer named Machine may be criticized for making Ashes of the Wake a little too safe or overproduced, nothing but compliments are deserved for the dark and very heavy sound on Sacrament.

Every band member ups their game on this album, better bass, greater variety, more guitar solos and unbelievable quality drumming. Chris Adler is a fantastic drummer and brings an energy to the music that would surely be missing without him, as well as being the business brains and motivational focus of the band he is musical backbone and a huge part of what makes any song sound like Lamb Of God.

I can't recommend the Sacrament enough; There are no weak songs on this album, there are no performances that feel phoned in and there are no guitar solos that sound anything less than the best solo that could possibly work in any given song. If you have even a passing interest in Lamb Of God you really need to check out this album.

Sacrament is THE best Lamb Of God album, without doubt. Ashes was good, but this is even better. The production quality is rock solid, everything just sounds awesome.

Some of my favourite song on the album are Walk With Me In Hell, because of the great drumming Chris Adler provides, Blacken The Cursed Sun because of it's great opening section and ending, and Redneck for the crazy riffing.

All of the band's members are playing their asses of on this album, The drumming by Chris Adler is absolutely great, insane at moments, The riffs by Morton and Adler are always catchy, And Blythe's screams are great.

Pure awesomeness.

Sacrament is the 4th full-length studio album by American thrash/ groove metal act Lamb of God. The album was released in August 2006 by Epic Records / Prosthetic Records.

The music on the album is contemporary thrash/ groove metal with hints towards metalcore. Upon first listen I was instantly reminded of Pantera but mid-nineties Testament is also a valid reference. Sometimes the vocals by Randy Blythe are so similar to the vocal style of Chuck Billy that it´s scary. The 11 tracks on the album are all quality material and while few stand out ( I´d mention the opening track Walk With Me In Hell and the video track Redneck as some of the standout tracks) as really excellent, it´s always a treat to listen to a consistent album. The songwriting could have been a bit more adventurous though and some fierce solo work would also have done a lot for my overall impression of the album.

The musicianship is tight. We´re dealing with skilled musicians here. Especially drummer Chris Adler stands out. Not only is he a very skilled drummer, he also understands the importance of variation. His playing is probably THE most enjoyable thing on Sacrament. His drumming is further enhanced by the production which favourises the drums.

Sacrament is a very good contemporary thrash/ groove metal album and I enjoy listening to the album on occassion. I think the album lacks the last thing to really hit the sky though and therefore a 3.5 star rating is deserved.
