"Legiones" is a 7" EP release by Trondheim based Norwegian black metal act Legiones. The EP was released in May 2011 by Duplicate Records and is limited to 500 copies on black vinyl and a special edition limited to 50 copies. The latter comes in a customized wooden box designed as a bible, containing the EP, a t-shirt and a lyric parchment. Now that´s what I call a collector´s item!
"Legiones" contains 2 tracks. Both tracks were also featured on the band´s 2009 demo. The demo also containted the track "Lament For Egypt" which has been left out from this EP release. The two tracks appear here in the same versions as on the demo but they have been remastered. Both "Threat Of Captivity" and "Against Judah" are pretty good black metal tracks and especially the latter, which features a strong Satyricon influence, is a track I found particularly enjoyable. There´s nothing new or groundbreaking here and the production is of the kind where I´m thinking "good demo quality", but the music is convincing enough and "Legiones" is a decent release to my ears. A 2.5 - 3 star rating is warranted.
