"Life Is Hard-But That's No Excuse" is the debut full-length studio album by US crossover act Lethal Aggression. The album was released through Funhouse Records in 1989.
21 furiously fast-paced (and occasionally mid-paced and more groove oriented) crossover tracks distributed over a 27:04 minutes long playing time. It doesn´t take a mathematical genious to figure out that these tracks are short and to the point. The longest track on the album is a mere 2:04 minutes long. Crossover to the bone. Crossover is usually on the thrashy side of things or on the more hardcore punked side of things and I´d say that the music on "Life Is Hard-But That's No Excuse" is on the hardcore punked side of the fence. Sometimes reminding me of the 1983 debut album by Suicidal Tendencies. I wouldn´t say the quality is as high as on that album though and by 1989 this wasn´t exactly revolutionizing either. In fact if you take into account that "Life Is Hard-But That's No Excuse" was released in 1989 it sounds a bit old fashioned. Also the sound production sounds a bit dated. That of course shouldn´t take away from the fact that this is a really enjoyable and at times powerful crossover release. The musicianship is decent too. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
