Warthur
Marduk have a bass player called "Devo" on this album, but miss the opportunity to cover anything off Q: Are We Not Men?/A: We Are Devo! - instead, they deliver up another angry set of violent black metal blasphemies. Once again, World War II themes work their way into the material, and once again they do a reasonable job of not seeming to directly endorse Nazi atrocities or anything like that - the war imagery is clearly part of an overall panorama of death and destruction and The Hangman of Prague is pretty condemnatory. Equally, continuing to come back to the same thematic well constantly beigns to wear thin. Incoming lead singer Mortuus' vocals are a particular asset for the band this time around and are a good fit for their particular style of super-aggressive black metal.
