UMUR
Kiss of Death is the 19th full-length studio album by UK hard rock/ metal act Motörhead. The album was released in August 2006 by SPV/ Steamhammer. The album was produced by Cameron Webb.
The music on the album is in the trademark filthy and metalized rock´n´roll style that Motörhead have been known for from day one. Not much is different on Kiss of Death compared to most other releases by the band. In the case of Motörhead, that´s of course not a problem. The joy of playing music shines through every composition on this album. Add to that excellent musicianship and a couple of really great tracks ( and a lot of more standard ones, as usual) in Sucker, Living in the Past, Going Down and the "on the road" tale track One Night Stand. The latter has some really great lyrics. One lyric line says: "I been a Slut all my Life". And that´s Lemmy talking about himself. Now that´s great humour. It´s not everyday you´ll get a power ballad on a Motörhead album but that´s the case with God Was Never on Your Side, so there´s actually some variation on the album too.
The production is professional and suits the music well. Power and more power.
Kiss of Death is yet another quality album by Motörhead and quite frankly it never cease to amaze me how many great albums this band has now released. They are not all consistently excellent, but they are always above standard and there are always at least one or two tracks ( or more) on each album that holds a quality that other bands rarely reach. So you think that this band of "old" men should retire? I guess you´ve never experienced Motörhead live then. And when the quality of their albums continue to be as high as it is on Kiss of Death, their albums will also continue to have relevance. A 3.5 star rating is deserved.
