UMUR
"The Wörld Is Yours" is the 21st full-length studio album by UK hard rock/ metal act Motörhead. The album was released in January 2011 by Motörhead Music/EMI Music Services. It feels like yesterday that "Motörizer (2008)" was released but to my surprise it´s been almost three years.
The music on the 10 track, 39:09 minutes long album is unmistakably the sound of Motörhead. The blues based hard rock/ metal formula that the band have always sworn to is more or less the same here as it has been on almost any album released before this one. Lemmy´s trademark raw "I ate some rusty nails for breakfast" vocals lead the way while the intrumental part of the music is solid and hard rocking. Drummer Mikkey Dee has to be one of the most impressive drummers in the world. The man is a powerhouse to behold. While most (well...hell all of them) of the tracks are rather simple vers/ chorus structured, Mikkey Dee´s input to the music and his playing makes all the difference in the world. Not only is he rock solid and hard hitting, but his attention to detail is admirable. Guitarist Phil Campbell does what has always done best. Tight playing and some great bluesy and hard rocking soloing.
As on most Motörhead albums the general quality of the tracks is high, but only few songs stand out as being special. The heavy and quite dark opening track "Born to Lose", "Rock 'n' Roll Music" and "Brotherhood of Man" (the latter which comes with a heavy "Orgasmatron" vibe) are the highlights here for me, but there´s nothing that isn´t at least good on the album.
"The Wörld Is Yours" isn´t a revelation or a renewal of the signature Motörhead sound, but it´s another solid and quite enjoyable album deserving a 3.5 star rating.
