"Delirium Tremens" is the 2nd full-length studio album by US death metal act Narcotic Wasteland. The album was independently released in October 2017. It´s the successor to the eponymously titled debut album from 2014. Narcotic Wasteland was formed as a side-project by then-Nile guitarist/vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade, but after leaving Nile in early 2017, Narcotic Wasteland has become Toler-Wade´s full-time project. There´s been one lineup change since the predecessor as drummer Erik Schultek has been replaced by Phil Cancilla.
Stylistically "Delirium Tremens" pretty much continues down the same technically well played death metal path as was initiated on the debut album. Toler-Wade has one of the most distinct sounding voices and powerful growling deliveries on the scene, and as always he is a real treat to listen to and a great asset to the band´s music. The material is generally well written, relatively catchy, and very well played. Highlights include the title track, opener "Introspective Nightmares" and closer "Pharma Culture", but the quality of the material is pretty decent throughout.
"Delirium Tremens" features a powerful and detailed sound production, which suits the material well and upon conclusion it´s a good quality sophomore release by Narcotic Wasteland. The band are still missing the last piece of the puzzle to make the songwriting a little more memorable in the long run, but as it is "Delirium Tremens" is worth seeking out. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
