"Written remotely during the height of the pandemic, Zeitgeist distills themes of introspection, dissatisfaction, and the tragedy of dysfunctional perspective in the tradition of 2000's era Groove Metal and modern Progressive Metalcore. A conceptual album inviting the listener to partake in a lyrical and musical journey:
We open in ‘The Foreshadowing’ with the protagonist, oblivious to the meaning and ramifications of his actions in time and space. The mocking tone of 'Parasomnia' invites him to extremes, to fully lose his senses, which he counters with a defiant pride. Still we find him asleep in 'Fragments Of,' and only later realising his 'Unwake' status. This sends him to despair - the doldrums of 'The Vortex' - where he must wrestle with the past self and consequences of the present. The swirling sands of time, kicked up from the ocean floor, perpetuate a mental erosion in ‘Atonia’ as he is unable to truly fathom the depths of his situation and find clear meaning. By 'Pitch Black,' we see that he has swallowed his problems, out of sight out of mind. But like Dorian Grey's portrait, the truth leers in a dusty back corner and refuses to be ignored. This doesn't stop the protagonist from attempting to run from his problems. In 'Icarus Rising' we see him living fast and hard, screaming into the atmosphere, willfully blind to his melting wings and ultimate doom. 'The Simulacrum' reveals the Icarus persona as a hopeful veneer over the true self, in which festers a solitary prison of obsession."
