"Black Blood Vomitorium" is an EP release by US death metal act Necrophagia. The EP was released through Red Stream Inc. in February 2000. It´s the follow-up release to Necrophagia´s 1998 comeback "Holocausto de la morte" album and it features the same quartet lineup who recorded the preceding album release. This is however the last release by this incarnation of Necrophagia (which among others included Phil Anselmo on guitars, (working under the Anton Crowley pseudonym). A slightly different lineup would record the "Cannibal Holocaust" EP in 2001.
Stylistically the 4 tracks on the 15:49 minutes long EP are not surprisingly pretty similar in style to the material found on "Holocausto de la morte". It´s old school death metal which is primal, savage, and pretty simple and easy to follow. It´s horror themed and there´s a campy quality to the atmosphere, which I´m sure is what the band were aiming for.
While "Black Blood Vomitorium" feature a raw and relatively well sounding production job, the performances are decent, and the songwriting alright, the EP is quality wise a run-of-the-mill type old school death metal release. The next incarnation of Necrophagia would release much more interesting music. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
