UMUR
"Murder Book" is the debut full-length studio album by Polish technical metal/thrash metal act Neurothing. The album was self-released in June 2009. Neurothing were formed in Poznań in 2004 and released the "Vanishing Celestial Bodies" EP in 2005.
The music on the 11 track, 35:15 minutes long album is technical extreme metal/groovy thrash metal very much in the vein of Meshuggah and at times Gojira. Challenging tempo- and time signature changes, ultra heavy groove laden and rhythmically complex riffs, and a raw and aggressive shouting lead vocalist on top. The musicianship are on a high level and everything is delivered with militant precision and great power.
The sound production is overall decent and powerful, but the album lacks a bit of a personal sound. The same can be said about the material which are generally a bit generic. So "Murder Book" is in some ways a fully professional product and in other ways it´s a very standard release in it´s genre, which has a hard time standing out among the vast amount of releases with a similar sound. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
