UMUR
"Inhumanities" is the second demo recording by US death/black metal act Order From Chaos. The demo was independently released in July 1988. It´s the successor to "Demo 1" from January 1988.

Listening to "Inhumanities" is amazing how fast Order From Chaous have developed their sound from the first demo, which was a pretty primitive, crude, and raw blackened speed/thrash metal release. "Inhumanities" is still a pretty simple, raw, and blackened extreme metal release with ties to both speed and thrash metal, but especially the blackened snarling vocals of lead vocalist/bassist Pete Helmkamp are pretty extreme for the time, and Order From Chaos have also added more heavy rhythmic elements to their playing, which ultimately makes "Inhumanities" a more varied and satisfyting release than the first demo.

When that is said this 4 tracks, 27:51 minutes long demo is still a very lo-fi, immature, and simple listen. Order From Chaos have opted to make their songs very long for the style, and they have a tendency to overstay their welcome and the impact of the music is often lessened because of the long tracks. This type of material can´t bear 6-8 minutes playing times for individual tracks.

"Inhumanities" is however still a very interesting release and arguably a seminal US black metal oriented extreme metal release. A 2.5 star (50%) rating is warranted.
