UMUR
"Supposed Exercise" is the first demo recording by Finnish speed metal act O.V.D.. The demo was independently released in March 1990. O.V.D. formed in 1988 in the city of Nokia and after releasing this demo they changed their name to Lubricant and their music style to death metal. The Nokia scene also spawned contemporary death metal acts Convulse and Purtenance (originally Purtenance Avulsion).
O.V.D. only released this demo before changing their name and music style, and that´s probably for the better, because although the band can play and it´s audible what´s going on, this is very time-typical and slightly below standard quality speed metal. A genre of metal which was incredibly popular in Finland at the time, but O.V.D. landed right in the middle of the great transition period from uplifting speed metal, to aggressive and raw thrash metal, to the brutal death metal sounds of the early 90s, and made a concious choice to start over with a new name and to play a completely different style of music. A 1.5 star (30%) rating is warranted.
