By now it should be clear that the extreme metal scene in Chile is a force to be reckoned with. Praise the Flame is one of the band who operate in the Chilean underground scene, and in February they released their debut EP "Profane Cult", which was reissued, Via Blood Harvest, in September in 12'' MLP format, including new artwork and a cover version of Unleashed's 'Before the Creation of Time'.
"Profane Cult" offers up an all out onslaught of fast paced Satanic death metal. The listener is treated to frantic death metal, rich in death-grind styled blastbeats and old school death metal riffage. True to the stylistics of mid 90s death metal, which seems to be where these Chileans get their inspiration from, every song is a flurry of maniacally brutal sections, one faster than the other. Needless to say, this makes the EP an extremely intense musical experience, which should appeal to fans of old school death metal. The Unleashed-cover found on Blood Harvest's version, provides, with its more crust and thrash inspired nature, a a bit of a breakaway from the death-grind style of Prase the Flames' own songs.
"Profane Cult" is a nice little package of brutal Satanic death metal with plenty of death-grind elements, and I think that it will appeal to fans of Deicide in particular.
