Vehemency
Proclamation could be condensed to two words: Blasphemy worship. Luckily Proclamation succeeds in it and Execration of Cruel Bestiality, the band’s third full-length, is another good album from this Spanish horde - now maybe even better than before.
The code that Proclamation uses is simple. Furious, desecrating Ross Bay black metal in the very vein of Blasphemy. Most of the time it’s fast-paced with some slower mid-sections as in ”Hammer of Prophets” for example. The screams are demonic and the drums play almost exclusively black and death metal blast beats. Production-wise, the drums have a hint of reverb now which is a nice addition. As with the previous outputs, the guitars are a bit too much in the background, becoming indistinct at times. Also, I’m not sure if I have ever heard the bass guitar here, but I don’t think it’s ultimately important in this style either.
Between the chaotic songs appear short ambient (if you can say so) interludes which are a nice addition to an album that can easily sound dull. Fortunately Execration of Cruel Bestiality is also pretty short (just 30 minutes) so it never manages to bore me. All in all, this third output manages to capture the essence of Blasphemy very well, and although it brings absolutely nothing new, I really enjoy listening to this filthy piece of black metal.
