UMUR
"Morphed from Deadbreath" is the debut full-length studio album by multi-national death metal act Putrevore. The album was released through Xtreem Music in September 2008. Putrevore is the brainchild of prolific Swedish death metal musician Roger "Rogga" Johansson (guitars, bass), who are known for his involvement with Demiurg, Ribspreader and Paganizer among others and Spanish vocalist Dave Rotten (Avulsed, Golgotha, Sad Eyes...etc.). They formed the band under the Deathbreath monicker in 2004 but changed their name to Putrevore in 2007 (hence the title of the album).

...anyone familiar with Roger "Rogga" Johansson and his usual playing and compositional style, knows that the man lives and breathes old school death metal. Usually with that distinct Swedish twist. The music on "Morphed from Deadbreath" is certainly old school death metal too, but slightly more brutal than many of his other projects. Much of that has to do with the gurgling and almost completely unintelligible growling vocals by Dave Rotten though. A vocal style I usually associate with goregrind. Apparently no vocal effects were used to produce the somewhat inhuman sounding vocals.

"Morphed from Deadbreath" isn´t the most exciting death metal album out there. For that the 32:21 minutes long album is too one-dimensional and lacking in power and hooks. Roger "Rogga" Johansson usually produces some quality death metal but this is one project he should either have spend more time on perfecting or should have completely abandoned. A 2.5 star (50%) rating is warranted.
