Genre: brutal (yet melodic) black metal
If there ever was an album whose title perfectly represents the music, then it has to be Rage Nucléaire's "Unrelenting Fucking Hared", because it is - well - fucking unrelenting.
For a start, virtually every track evolves around hyper fast blastbeats - with a number of heavier rhythms and more defined riffs popping up every now and then. In addition, the vocals are extremely harsh and have a certain sense of rage to them which, for some reason, reminds me of Hitler's infamous animated speeches. This is, of course, an acquired taste, but it suits the albums hate-driven brutal attitude, with many lyrics dealing with death, destruction and warfare.
At the same time, "Unrelenting Fucking Hatred" is a strangely melodic affair with many overtaid tremolo-picked harmonies and other melodic figures in the guitar department. Moreover, Rage Nucléaire make use of atmopsheric keyboards which also add a melodic dimension to the overall album.
The production is not exactly raw, but not super polished either, and the guitars do have a razor sharp edge to them, while it sounds like the vocals have been slightly processed to give them and extra noisy character.
Rage Nucléaire's debut is an acquired taste, but if you like your black metal to be both brutal and oppressive as well as melodic and dark, then you should check out the blastfest that is "Unrelenting Fucking Hate".
