Revolt...
Genre: thrash black grind / chamber music
Satanochio are described as an avant-garde black metal band, but this release is actually very raw and dirty sounding - well, at least the previously unreleased track "Revolt" is, because the other track "The Grave Of Our Hope" is a classical strings chamber quartet version of another Satanochio track.
"Revolt" is perhaps not avant-garde as such, but it manages to take the listener on a frantic roller coaster ride in its 1:50 minutes, as the band make use of elements from thrash metal, raw black metal and grindcore and there's even a heavy sort of breakdown in it. The vocals are, uncharacteristically for black metal perhaps, screamed and sound really angry and frustrated. This suits the song very well, which, as far as I understand, is actually an expression of frustrations with the state-of-affairs in Romania.
"The Grave Of Our Hope (Green Scent Quartet Version of View From My Coffin)" is a classical version of "View from My Coffin", performed by Green Scent Quartet, and, although it is also pretty dark, it provides an interesting contrast to the intensity of "Revolt".
Very interesting stuff indeed.
