1967/ 1976
With a new drummer (Danni Zimmermann) in 1992 Satrox recorded their 2nd (and last) album "Energy". A really nice and complete album.
The people who had known Satrox here found the confirmation that "Energy" is an album of a great band. All the songs are great, not only for the incredible style, a mix between Scorpions and Uriah Heep (first song of 2nd side is "Stealin'", cover of Uriah Heep) with more guitar that the first album, "Heaven Sent". Also the production is better. So the songs have more powerful. It is true that "Energy" was more personal, with more Metal that Hard Rock in vein. At the same time "How Many Heartaches" remain a great and pure AOR power ballads but the new drummer (in line-up from 1990) had a style very close to Power Metal, so the drums parts are more aggressive, technicals (great double bass drums) and dynamics. Due to the better production the power of the songs are in first plan as the melody, a sort of AOR view in Heavy Metal, while AOR is distant 1000 miles from Satrox.
The best song (and in my opinion is one of the top 10 Rock all time songs) is "Energy", a sort of simple powerful Rock song based on simple riffs, power and magic with a great and immediate chorus is a personal vision of Metal with the insertion of melodic Power metal and Hard Rock that transform this song in a moderm vision of a perfect mix between Saxon, Priest, Scorpions, UFO and Uriah Heep. Great are also "Break The Ice", "Hero", "Stop" "Only Love", "Liar", the Heep cover "Stealin'", "How Many Heartaches", "Hard Times" and "Dancin' In The Rain" for a great final result: a masterpiece!
In a great substance one of the best Heavy Metal bands (not only for me) is one of the more unfortunate bands in the world: Satrox. And the story is unjust: "Enrgy" is a great and pure masterpiece of Rock!
