slow man
Rock 'n'roll gypsies is a live album that was recorded in Budapest, 1988. It's the first appearance of bass player Nibbs Carter, who's still in the band. It was a hard time for Saxon. Many old fans lost their faith in them after the weak Destiny album. In fact their weaker period started with the 1984 Crusader album and ended with the commercial Destiny. Even i lost my interest in them, but this live record is a good one. Roadrunner was willing to release this album. It is a good collection of the better new songs, and some old ones you haven't heard on The eagle has landed. Many songs are favourite of mine. The traditional heavy metal of And the bands played on is really beautiful. Broken heroes is a strong ballad that handles about war. It's having character, just like the other songs. All-time classics as Power and the glory, Dallas 1PM and The eagle has landed can also be found on this record. Just let me rock is interesting because they never played much Crusader songs. You can also hear some of the commercial songs in a live version, but it's good to have something from the weaker albums live. Rock'n'roll gypsies is essential for Saxon fans.
