Skin N' Bones is another sleaze band that joined the scene of late glam movement in the early 90s but failed to attract any local major label to produce their debut. "Not A Pretty Sight" eventually was released in 1990 by a Japan label and been out of print and expensive for a while until remastered by Metal Mayhem as "Speak Easy", slipped with their "Madhouse" EP in one single album.
The spotlight of the band is on Johnny Vamp's gritty voice while Bones provided some decent and good solos, his play isn't very memorable. The first five "Madhouse" tracks are awesome but unfortunately the sound production is a bit dated and looks like came straight from an old tape. With 17 tracks offered, only "Nymphomania" is the weak tune here, while there are still several decent tracks, Skin N' Bones has a lot of great uptempo tracks, and among my favorites are "Cheap Thrills", "Resurrection Love", "All The Girls In The World", "Out With The Boys", and "My World". Some good ballads here are "So Far Away", "Cover Me With Roses", and "Let Her Go".
Skin N' Bones' musical style can be described as a dirty blend of Guns N' Roses, Poison, and Skid Row. They leaned toward the heavier edge of glam with less punk and blues, but still got those anthemic riffs and necessary ballads. "Speak Easy" can be bought cheap and with a lot of quality songs like these, I strongly recommend you to buy this if you're a fans of commercial-fuelled sleaze glam act.
