2nd solo Steve Vai album. Really excellence in the foreground!
When I heard for the first time Steve Vai did not understand his great skill. Maybe it's because the album "Eat'Em and Smile" by David Lee Roth was not the best album to judge Steve Vai. I found out later, his work with Alcatrazz. "hmmm... Steve is a good guitarist", I thought. By chance, then, I bought this album. "Shit," I thought, "What a fantastic album!". What, then, is what I still think of "Passion And Warfare". There is, however, to think that Steve Vai would say: "F****ng listeners... Feel you as I am a musical genius!". Just... Hmmm... Every time I hear "Passion and Warfare" an orgasm takes me heart. So much so that the risk of heart attack! I can rationalize feelings and realize that "Passion And Warfare" is an album dry and empty. But magic. But these feelings seem desired by one Steve Vai really conscious of its limitations (which does not seem to exist). Listening to "For The Love Of God", 24 carat genuine ballad and here I think Steve Vai has a habit of wanting to talk about the guitar. Steve Vai can genuinely take seriously even the ridiculous (deliberately?) "The Audience Is Listening". "Erotic Nightmares" is the perfect middle ground, where Steve Vai remembers that he plays Heavy Metal.
Not an easy album, "Passion And Warfare". However, it is not difficult to understand "Passion And Warfare" if you manage to get into the mindset of Steve Vai. Unfortunately, then, will not want to come out of his belief.
