Sweet Cheater actually had existed since 80s, playing small clubs as a home band in many defunct places in California until disbanded in the 90s and eventually found again by Perris Records in 2006. This album, "Eatin' Ain't Cheatin", was their debut and offered a rough mixture of Kix, Ratt, and Tesla classic sound. Mark Chappel's voice is like a blend of Stephen Pearcy and Jeff Keith, layered with a great twin guitars combo in a five men formation.
Aside from a weak production, this album is totally worth getting for many standout tracks such as the sleaze pieces of "All Fired Up", "Money's Tough", and "Dancin' On The Grave". Three other killer commercial tracks that should have ruled the radio and TVs are "Summer", "Holding Out On Love", and "Subway Train", all of them are hits potential and flooded with heavenly addictive hooks. The best ballad in this album is "It's Our Love" that had a major Tesla influence, but I believe by putting too many ballads here is not a good decision, they should have omitted "Romina" or "I've Got You" and replaced with couple of neckwrecking sleaze tracks and you will get a perfect album.
