This was the first System album I was waiting for anxiously, and it didn't disappoint at the time. But along the years I've come to recognize the first sub-par songs of System's career, which luckily are in the minority, and when it comes to SoaD, sub-par is still pretty damn good for most bands' standards.
This album is considered a proper full length record by at least some of the band members, but in reality it's a collection of leftovers mostly from the Toxicity sessions with a couple of new songs thrown in. Along with tracks like Pictures and Thetawaves which aren't their best songs ever, this album featurest many of my all time System favourites. The insane opener Chic 'N' Stu, the explicitly political Boom!, the Knight Rider Theme quoting I-E-A-I-A-I-O, the acoustic Roulette and the immensely powerful Streamline are among their finest material ever, and tracks like Mr. Jack, Fuck the System and Ego Brain don't lag far behind.
In recent years I've come to notice the shortcomings of this album, but still it's an excellent collection of good System of a Down material. Way to clean out the closet before taking on the next project...
