UMUR
"War Upon Worship" is the 3rd full-length studio album by Australian black/death/thrash metal act The Furor. The album was released through Prime Cuts Music in June 2011. On this album The Furor is a two-man act consisting of Kill Machine on guitars and bass and Disaster on drums and vocals. It´s not exactly audible though as the two musicians create a wall of sound. They are relentlessly energetic, so expect no breathers on "War Upon Worship".
The music on the album is aggressive and furiously fast paced black metal bordering blackened death/thrash. In addition to the hateful and aggressive style that the band practises (I´m reminded of the caustic delivery of Angelcorpse) there´s also an epic element on the album, that sometimes reminds me of Behemoth. The atmosphere enhancing keyboards that are placed very low in the mix only further enhances the epic element. The vocals are fiercely aggressive and hateful sounding, complementing the energetic instrumental delivery very well. The 8 tracks on the 46:46 minutes long album take a while to tell apart, but after a few spins details begin to stand out. This is not only a relentlessly aggressive album it´s also a well composed one. Add to that a powerful, detailed and raw sound production and "War Upon Worship" end up a very successful album release to these ears. The pairing of blackened death/thrash aggression and furiously fast-paced black metal is a really powerful cocktail. A 3.5 - 4 star (75%) rating is deserved. Nice and bestial.
