As much as I love the idea of a middle-point between power, speed and thrash, the problem is that occasionally the combo and its ingredients are handled in a derivative fashion. Viper's Evolution showcases their ability to seamlessly transition through the three genres on a consistent basis by properly achieving the right metal mood for the job. However, none of the tracks have anything outlandish or outrageous concerning this three piece balance. In fact, the talent the band showcases is typical for an 80's and 90's metal band. The songs are all good enough on their own, and Viper fans will definitely find some sweet jams to play in their spare time, but together they create something that combines consistency with its evil twin: monotony. THe only real standout is the cover of "We Will Rock You" which takes liberties with the layout of the song and adds more relevance to the concept of a guitar solo. Otherwise, it's a decent and fairly fun album that doesn't stand out.
