The influences of Tank and Venom are very strong on this debut from Warfare, unsurprising given Venom's Mantas played guitar on the opener "Burn The King's Road" - a real riotous affair as you might imagine, and Algy Ward from Tank had a hand behind the production desk.
The aggression with which the music is delivered should carry a warning - you might seriously end up believing that burning down the King's Road is a really good idea.
But then it goes up a notch.
"New Age of Total Warfare" is out and out hardcore thrasherama whith a liberal spattering of UK Subs, Damned and Motorhead thrown in, and, for 1984, a hard-moshing mayhemic monster. Some give the date of release as 1982, in which case, this is utterly astonishing - but it's still awesome stuff for 1984!
The EP closes with the title track, another monster, but this time one which stomps like those slower sections in Sacred Reich's early albums. This is real fists in the air, hair sweeping the floor stuff.
The music overall is a bit like Venom would have been if they'd actually learned to play and stayed away from all that Satanic nonsense.
Awesome debut and a real credit to the Neat Records stable (after Raven, of course!).
