Founded in 1996, AtmOsfear is an independent Progressive-Metal-Project in which every member is able to fulfill his very own demands on music. The character and style of AtmOsfear could not better be focused than in the first 3-track release in 1997, simply named “AtmOsfear”: Premium class independent progressive Metal with a perfect rhythm section and a powerful & highly melodic voice, combined with screaming guitars and virtuous, atmospheric keyboards. From then on the bands aim was to perform their 2 1/2 hour repertoire in every location and club, playing with highly reputabled bands like POVERTY´S NO CRIME, CHARISMA (IVANHOE), VANDEN PLAS, HEADWAY FESTIVAL (with PAIN OF SALVATION, Freak Kitchen, Bumblefoot, Sun Caged, Loch Vostock, etc.) and EVERGREY. The tremendous response was topped with the release of the 2nd CD "Inside the Atmosphere" in 2003. The new Album “Zenith” was the next big step in melody linings and hooklines and shows read more...

Once again, Germany has produced another amazing, yet totally obscure and (sadly) unheard of progressive metal band, this one going by the name of Atmosfear.

Released six years after their debut three-track single, 'Inside the Atmosphere' could be accused of being another 'generic prog metal' album. And whilst I agree that there isn't really anything new or innovative here... why does there need to be?

While crunchy, heavy, yet melodic guitar riffs are in full flow here, a lot of the music is very keyboard-driven, which makes for some really cool compositions. Songs worth checking out include 'Mysterious', 'Feardrops' and 'Patience', all definitely worth the price if you can find this album reasonably cheap.

Unfortunately, to counter some of the better songs, there are also some very bland and very generic songs here, which really makes the album drag on for a staggering 75 minutes! There is also a rather uninteresting cover of the Beatles' 'Elenor Rigby' which really adds nothing to the record.

Overall, there isn't too much to comment on really. It's a standard prog metal album. Nothing amazingly new, but the good songs definitely make this an album worth having.

ATMOSFEAR are a Prog-Metal band out of Germany and this is their second album from 2009. This is one of those albums that pushes the right buttons for me. From the vocals to the drumming to the heaviness and atmosphere, they do it right. "Beginnings" is the short intro track with atmosphere that blends into "Loss Of Hope" where violin-like sounds join in and other mellow sounds. It kicks in with riffs and a low end vibe. Vocals come in as well. The chorus is uplifting. "Generations" is over 12 minutes long and starts slowly.Reserved vocals and piano join in. An aggressive sound later with rough vocals. "Reawakening" is an impressive instrumental with piano to start before the heaviness and crisp drumming kicks in. It eventually blends into "Scum Of Society" as vocals join the heavy soundscape. A dark and heavy sound here with nasty organ runs.Riffs end it. "Spiral Of Pain" is almost 30 minutes long and of course takes us on an epic journey. It even reminds me of RUSH during one section. A solid 4 stars.
