What falls away...
Genre: progressive metal
It's been ten years since the release of Cea Serin's debut full-length album "...Where Memories Combine..." was rleased, so fans of the band have really had to be waiting patiently for the release of "The Vibrant Sound of Bliss and Decay" which was released in a collaboration between Generation Prog and Nightmare Records.
And, yeah, this album has been worth waiting for. Drawing on a slightly more hard-edged sound than your stereotypical progressive metal band, Cea Serin terats the listener to extremely strong progressive metal tunes that are both challenging and enjoyable, and which combine epicness with aggression. There's even some experimenting with harsh extreme metal vocals at times. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the proghead interested throughout the entire album, and the songs are dynamically structured.
The production is well defined, and with an edge, interestingly generated by the plucky sounding bass. Needless to say, the musicianship and songwriting skills are top notch.
A more aggressive and edgy prog metal release, this album should appeal to fans of Mekong Delta, Antithesis, Unleashed Power, and maybe also Realm and Watch Tower.
