"Corpse Molester Cult" is the self-titled debut EP release by Finnish death metal act Corpse Molester Cult. The EP was released in March 2011 by Hammerheart Records. The band are notable for featuring Amorphis frontman Tomi Joutsen in the lineup as a guitarist. I´m not 100% sure about this (it didn´t say in the promo material I was sent), but as far as I understand the EP is actually a re-release of the band´s 2008 demo, rather than a re-recording.

The music on the album is old school death metal played the Swedish way. These guys may be from Finland, but their music sounds so unmistakably Swedish it hurts. And I´ll be even more specific and say that the 4 tracks on the 16:59 minute long EP more or less sound like Entombed did in 1992 - 1994. Death metal with a punked edge. The songs are all pretty enjoyable, but the band are in dire need of a more original style if you ask me. I like old school Swedish death metal just as much as the next fella, but you gotta add your own touch to the music to be noticed. I´ll be a bit harsh here and say that Corpse Molester Cult is a clone act. The music is delivered with power and conviction and the production is pretty good, but in the end the music seriously lack original ideas.

So if you are content with listening to yet another old school Swedish ( ...oh well Finnish) death metal release that sounds more or less like Entombed did in 1992 - 1994, I guess this EP could hold some value to you. A 2.5 - 3 star (55%) rating is warranted.
