"Demo 1987" is the first demo recording by Finnish thrash metal act Criminal Assault. The demo was independently released in 1987. Criminal Assault would change their name to Sacred Crucifix shortly after the release of the demo, and the demo minus the track "Blessed Pilgrim" would be re-released in 1988 under the Sacred Crucifix monicker. So this demo exists in two versions.
Stylistically this is aggressive and brutal sounding thrash metal greatly influenced by artists like Sodom and Kreator, but also by the rawness and savage sound of the contemporary South American thrash metal scene. It´s well performed, well produced, and relatively memorable, and although you won´t find much here you haven´t heard before, it´s still a good quality thrash metal demo and certainly one of the earliest raw thrash metal demos from Finland. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
