Killer Columbians attack
Genre: thrash metal
Disaster is a Columbian thrash metal band. As we all know, the underground metal scene in Columbia is very strong, and this album is another addition to awesome Columbian metal releases.
We are dealing with fierce thrash metal with a few elements of speed metal. Every song is aggressive and energetic and, most importantly, very well composed. The songs on the album cater to fans of old school thrash metal but still include just enough melody to also attract fans of speed metal and perhaps even Swedish melodic death metal. In terms of technicality and complexity, the compositions are neither too simple nor to complex, and there is just enough technicality to show that these guys are excellent musicians, but still it is accessible enough that everybody should be able to handle it. There are plenty of guitar harmonies and guitar solos, some of which are blistering and shreddy while others are melodic and oriented towards classic metal.
These guys are excellent songwriters and musicians. The vocals are perhaps a bit too screechy for some people, and it did take me a song or two to get used to it. But perhaps the vocals will appeal to fans of black metal although this can hardly be described as black-thrash. The production is pretty good without being too polished.
This is definitely a contender for the thrash-album-of-2014 title. It's that good.
