Fast, loud 'n' rude...
Genre: speed metal
Enter Evil Invaders, a Belgian metal band who love speed metal. I mean, they named themselves after the 1985 classic by the Canadian speed/thrash legends in Razor.
Musically, we are - not surprisingly - dealing with speed metal inspired by the old school. Thus, the listener is treated to fast metal tracks with a couple of thrashy elements. And we are not just talking fast stuff here, we are talking good fast stuff. There is plenty of melody to go around, though, as heard in the last parts of 'Pulses of Pleasure', and the influences of traditional metal have a quite strong presence on this album.
The musicianship is top notch as is the songwriting skills that this album displays. In particular, the guitar solos have the right balanced between shredding and melody, which I personally appreciate. The vocals are perhaps a bit of an acquired taste; they can be likened to Paul Baloff on helium and may be too hysterical to some listeners. I like them though, as they add a dimension of utter madness to the album.
Fans of fierce speed metal should definitely check this album out.
