Really, this is San Francisco's Day Blindness second album recorded in late 1969/early 1970. Day Blindness' self-tilted debut from 1969 was recorded at the infamous Studio 10 in San Fran as trio when bassist/guitarist Johnny Vernazza was out of town. A mediocre heavy psych/hard rock/west-coast psych sound encompassing influences from the Doors, Iron Butterfly, Blue Cheer and Jefferson Airplane.

After the release of Day Blindness the remaining members morphed into Fox consisting of guitarist/vocalist Gary Pihl, bassist Johnny "V" Vernazza on bass and drummer Roy Garcia and went back into Studio 10 to record another album. A single was released on the Studio 10 label but it is very rare. More heavy and metallic and without the cheezy organ the music wasn't released until 2010.

Guitarist Gary Pihl later joined Sammy Hagar's band in 1977 and stayed until 1984 when Tom Scholz of Boston asked him to join the band and stayed

Heavy psych single with the only heavy moments rather disappointingly based on "Tobacco Road". The light, plinky breakdown only serves to highlight the psych aspect - and when you flip it over, you get part II, which is obviously based on Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit".

The crunchy chords and chugging rhythm are somewhat similar to music you'll find on Judas Priest's "Sad Wings of Destiny" ("Victim of Changes"), and some of the soloing is similar to some of Tony Iommi's less imaginative pentatonic moments (I noticed a few bars that were similar to a section of "War Pigs") - but all in all, this is stretching the term proto metal a bit.

A foot-tapper rather than a headbanger - pass it by.
