UMUR
"Dimensions" is the debut full-length studio album by Danish death metal act Frozen Sun. The album was released through Serious Entertainment in 1996. Frozen Sun was formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1998 after releasing a couple of demos and "Dimensions". Various members of the band have also played with acts like Infernal Torment, Exmortem, Horned Almighty, Koldborn, Angel Accelerator Death and Panzerchrist.
The music on the album is technically well played death metal. Frozen Sun are not the most original sounding act in the world, but they play with conviction and the music features good compositional variation (blastbeats, groove oriented and heavy mid-paced riffing, brutal thrashy riffing). The growling vocals delivered by lead vocalist Kenny Nielsen are one of the greatest assets to the music. He is capable of delivering really brutal growls while still being intelligible. The sound production is decent, but especially the guitars could have featured a better sound. But that´s not unusual for albums recorded at Borsing Studios from around that time.
Overall "Dimensions" is a pretty strong death metal release by Frozen Sun. Compared to some of the other death metal recordings that came out of Denmark in those days, "Dimensions" are definitely in the better part of the field. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
