Need my metal...
Genre: NWoBHM
One of the better NWoBHM releases, without being original at all, Fugitive's 1981 single "Need My Freedom" is in the heavyer department of the NWoBHM movement.
The title track starts out as a straigt chugging rocker, but contains some surprising tempo changes, which work but not as well as what Iron Maiden and Hell could do.
"Don't Tell Me I'm Crazy" is essentially a Deep Purple-inspired hard rocker with riffage and vocal lines reminiscent of Purple's faster songs (it sounds like a sped up version of "Black Knight"), but with some nice twin guitars and changes that seem to be inspired by the success of Iron Maiden. It's a quite good metal song, to be sure, and an enjoyable listen, but not terrible original.
I nice metal release and part of the most important movement in metal music, this release should interest anyone who likes traditional metal and hard rock. But it is rare and expensive. Both tracks can be heard here on MMA though.
