The Silence Ebony is a 2-track, 13:12 minute long EP release by Swedish black metal act Funeral Dirge. The two songs are the only recorded material by the band. The EP was released on 7 incj vinyl in 1999 by Selbsmord Services limited to 200 hand-numbered copies. The two tracks on the EP was re-released as part of the The Sinister Alliance (2007) 3-way split album with Shining and Mrok. The band is a two-man act consisting of Fredrik Karlsson and Niklas Kvarforth ( Shining, Ondskapt, Den Saakaldte...etc).
The music on the EP is raw black metal, but with an industrial sense, programming and a dark atmsphere. The vocals are rather distinct. They are heavily distorted in a twisted and bizarre fashion which really give the music a special feel. The music is not a revolution but it´s pretty good.
The Silence Ebony is more than anything a collector´s item, but the music contained within has it´s own special feel and while not being totally unique or original, it´s interesting in it´s own right. A 3 star rating is deserved.
