After the Iron Curtain fall, Gorky Park finally had the chance to be publicized internationally. They went to USA and their talent was spotted by Frank Zappa and Bon Jovi before Jon got them signed to Mercury and released this debut in 1989. "Bang", an anthemic song that combined Russian and English lyric received a decent rotation in MTV and soon their name was recognized as the first Russian hair metal band in the land of America.
Although I found their second release was better in any way and I can't complain much where people said that this first effort was quite forgettable, this album wasn't really that bad at all. I still think the acoustical "Try To Find Me" is a nice song with a great solo, "Sometimes At Night" even though quite patchy at the beginning but has some good chorus, and the "Peace In Our Time" which was written by Bon Jovi has their disctinctive Slippery When Wet party sound. The Who's rendition of "My Generation" is also worth-checking although to me it sounded Moscowly strange and with the rest boring fillers, this is the album only for completist who appreciated the rare value of the disc.
