UMUR
Suck out the Poison is the 3rd full-length studio album ( or actually the 2nd if you don´t count the A Kiss That Killed The One We Love (2000) album they recorded under the name No One Wins) by American metalcore act He is Legend. The album was released in October 2006 by Solid State. The album was distributed by Century Media in Europe.
The band play a melodic style of heavy rock/ metal with both clean and raw vocals. The band mainly take their influences from the more alternative metal scene, grunge, hard rock and groove metal. The songs are generally vers/ chorus based and pretty formulaic in structure. The band are well playing and the album is well produced. You might have noticed my lack of enthusiasm here and if you have you would be right. I hear nothing on this album that makes it stand out from the hordes of easy listening emo tinged metalcore acts out there. I´m not saying this is necessarily bad music but personally I have a hard time enjoying it. The music comes off completely generic and the vocals are even more so. There are elements from Southern rock and Stoner rock in the music too, but when it comes down to a catagorization I´ll label the music on the album metalcore. With a total playing time of 56:54 minutes the album is too long. Had they cut at least 15 minutes I think the album would have been better.
To my ears this is music made for teenagers ( thereby not implying that all teenagers will enjoy this) and I dare you to find one person over 20 who enjoys this album ( thereby more than implying that no person over 20 will enjoy this :-)). 2.5 stars are warranted.
