"Life Here After" is a compilation release by Finnish death metal act Interment. The compilation was released through Necroharmonic Productions in August 2016. Interment formed in 1989 in the town of Paimio and is one of the lesser known acts from the Finnish Turku area death metal scene, which was dominated by Xysma, Funebre, and Disgrace (or at least in retrospect those were the artists who were most successful). Interment only released a 1990 three-track demo, which was reissued as the "Life Here After" EP in 1991 and then disbanded sometime after 1992. The three tracks from the demo/EP are included in this compilation along with four tracks from a previously unreleased 1992 rehearsal tape.
The compilation opens with the three tracks from the 1990 demo/1991 "Life Here After" EP and closes with the four tracks from the previously unreleased 1992 rehearsal tape (one of which is a short outro). 7 tracks and a total playing time of 20:24 minutes were all Interment left as their musical legacy.
The material from the 1990 demo/1991 "Life Here After" EP is relatively standard old school Scandinavian death metal, while it´s obvious that from the way the unreleased rehearsal tracks sound, that Interment where on their way in another direction when they opted to disband. I´m not sure I´d call it death´n´roll, but it´s certainly not regular old school death metal either. It´s arguably an eclectic type of death metal with both traditional heavy metal melodic sensibilities, and hard rocking death´n´roll moments, but also some more regular death metal sections.
Honestly the 1992 rehearsal material is not why you would want to purchase "Life Here After". It´s the three tracks from the 1990 demo/1991 "Life Here After" EP, which are worth the price of admission...and even those are relatively standard quality material for the genre. A 2.5 - 3 star (55%) rating is warranted.
