Jebbal-Sag is a great band that combines different bases composing really good songs. This "Hopes and Illusions" from 2004 is their debut and, in general, is a good demo.
The first song is "Vampire": Good Udo Dirkschneider vocal parts in a Proto Power Metal structure. Unfortunately, the song suffers from a not very dynamic Ilenia Serini that seems to be driven by other musicians, instead of guiding them. Very good the guitars. "She Will Come" is a mix between 80's Speed Metal and bands as UFO, Scorpions and Symphony X with a lot of magic but ruined by the desire of wanting to be at all personal costs and, therefore, unable to make it take off. Sincerely "Arcadia" is a Doom/ Speed Metal because is based by between the genres (not a new combination... See "Black Sabbath") and suffer from a vocal interpretation not good. Ilenia also proves to be unsuitable to Speed Metal, at least at this stage of his career. "Haitian Night (Suspended)" is yet another modernization of the style of Black Sabbath with Ozzy combined with Venom, which is not sorry, even if abused.
In general, "Hopes and Illusions" is a good start, with several flaws but with a different but recognizable style. To be honest this demo we got a little 'ahead of its time, because a band with musicians willing but not yet masters of their instruments. In any case a good example of Traditional Heavy Metal.
