"Stains on the Breeding Altar: 2008-2021" is a compilation release by US cyber goregrind act Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest. The compilation was released through Cat Basket Recordings in May 2022. It features the material from the 2009 "Ritually Abused Orifice" EP/demo, the 2010 "Mongoloid Messiah" EP/demo, the 2014 "Rotting Shroud" demo, the 2020 split with Girth, the 2021 split with Blue Holocaust, and the tracks "Phantasmal Piss Conjurations, Pt 1", "Phantasmal Piss Conjurations, Pt 2", and "Phantasmal Piss Conjurations, Pt 3", which to my knowledge are exclusive to this release.

The material from the 2009 "Ritually Abused Orifice" EP/demo and the 2010 "Mongoloid Messiah" EP/demo is pretty similar styled electronic/cyber goregrind. The later material is a bit more raw and noisy and although both the early and the later material are programmed (even the parts which sound like it´s guitars and bass playing) the material from 2014 onwards sounds less electronic/cyber tinged and more brutal and savage goregrind oriented. The many samples of people talking about ritual abuse, rape, and other nasty topics further enhances the feeling that Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest have become nastier and more filthy with the years...and it suits them. To my ears the first seventeen tracks which are culled from the "Ritually Abused Orifice" and the "Mongoloid Messiah" EPs/demos are decent, but the remaining sixteen songs are more intriguing and powerful.

"Stains on the Breeding Altar: 2008-2021" is a good quality cyber goregrind release, and a great way to get introduced to the world of Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest. Both their early electronic tinged period and the more brutal and filthy goregrind period which followed. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.

"Ritually Abused Orifice/Mongoloid Messiah" is a compilation release by US cyber goregrind act Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest. The compilation was independently released in 2010. It compiles thee material from the 2009 "Ritually Abused Orifice" EP/demo and the 2010 "Mongoloid Messiah" EP/demo.

Seventeen tracks of filthy electronic cyber goregrind. Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest probably isn´t for everybody, but if you enjoy purely programmed goregrind with distorted and effect laden shouting/growling vocals there certainly is some decent music to be found on this compilation. But if you´re interested in listening to Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest I´d recommend purchasing the 2022 "Stains on the Breeding Altar: 2008-2021" instead, which features all material from this compilation plus everything else Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest recorded and released in the 2008-2021 period. A 2.5 - 3 star (55%) rating is warranted.

LYSERGIC RITES OF SADOPRIEST Mongoloid Messiah

"Mongoloid Messiah" is an EP (maybe demo...it´s a bit unclear) release by US cyber goregrind act Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest. The EP/demo was independently released in 2010. It´s the successor to the "Ritually Abused Orifice" EP/demo from 2009. Like the predecessor "Mongoloid Messiah" was mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed...etc.).

Compared to the music style on "Ritually Abused Orifice", the material on "Mongoloid Messiah" have increased the electronic cyber element of Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest´s goregrind style. Everything is programmed (including what occasionally sounds like guitars and bass), and the vocals are distorted shouting/growling.

While this is obviously a one-man band effort created on a computer, there is still something interesting about it and the sound production is pretty decent for this type of release. I could maybe have wished for a more interesting drum programming, but other than that "Mongoloid Messiah" is a pretty interesting cyber goregrind release. A 2.5 - 3 star (55%) rating is warranted.

"Ritually Abused Orifice" is an EP (maybe demo...it´s a bit unclear) release by US cyber goregrind act Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest. The EP/demo was independently released in 2009. Not much can be found about Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest, but I was able to dig out the fact that a guy named Hepatitis Steve (real name Steve Snider) is responsible for performing vocals and that Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed...etc.) is credited for mastering this release.

Stylistically the nine tracks on this release is an electronic cybergrind and gore themed type of grindcore. Eerie atmospheric samples, electronic beats, and distorted shouting/growling vocals are the main ingredients of Lysergic Rites of Sadopriest´s music. So this is not your typical Carcass influenced goregrind act. Everything is programmed and features an industrial edge. Although there are regular noisy blast beat sections on some songs, I´m pretty sure that both bass and guitars (or what sounds like those instruments) are programmed too.

It´s obvious that whoever is behind this project knows what he is doing. The music style itself may be slightly one-dimensional and the lack of real guitars/bass also makes the music a bit sterile sounding, but other than that this is a professional and pretty creative recording. A 2.5 - 3 star (55%) rating is warranted.
