Mhnunrrn are not too distant from Njiqahdda in that they play extremely low-fi black metal, laced with strong noise influences. Mhnunrrn's debut full length, released this year in an incredibly small 50 copy print run is a prime example of blackgaze/noise metal. It seems a bit deceptive to even describe it as metal - but there are the elements of metal underneath the initally abrasive and unwelcoming atmosphere.
This album is an uncompromising listen, a single 56 minute track of noisy low-fi black metal. Lyrics are often obscured beneath distortions of noisy feedback and scratches and the atmostphere is nearly ceaseless in its aggression. It does however, maintain interest, especially for those who are fans or at least receptive of noise. It is divergent within the uncompromising territory it explores.
An interesting sonic experience, worth purchasing if you're a collector of rarities, or blackgaze/noise mashups - but for a casual listener, this will be a challenging and perhaps unrewarding listen.
